Armored Core 4 Review

2007 marks the ten-year anniversary of the Armored Core series. The good news is that mech fans are still playing this game, the bad news is that very little has changed in ten years.

It has become apparent over time that AC has been fine-tuned for hardcore mech lovers. AC has always been known for its in-depth customization which allows specific and a seamlessly endless amount of options to create your machine gun wielding, plasma rifle toting, laser mounted, rocket launching, flying, walking, gliding, metal death machine.

The best part about AC4 is that you can take said customized mech and battle online against friends or mortal enemies in a variety of matches. Being able to check out other player’s mechs and strategies used in battle helps fine-tune the perfect machine for ultimate domination. Sadly the single player campaign is full of dull missions, un-inspired graphics, and tiny battle areas. The sound is good with weapon and explosion effects making up most of the action.

The AC franchise is just what I remember jumping into ten years ago. If you are still trying to fabricate the perfect mech, then AC4 is the next logical step. If you are looking for a fun gaming experience with lasting appeal, avoid AC4 like the plague.
